About the Author

Hi, I’m Arata Hoshino, a strategic and venture designer based in the United Arab Emirates. Although raised in Japan, I spent my teens reading about Silicon Valley technology, longtermism, techno-libertarianism, and the ideas of Buckminster Fuller.

I did BEng Mechanical and Energy Engineering at Waseda University; MSc Media Design at Keio University, with research work in service design and venture design; CEMS MIM (MSc International Management) at HEC Paris and the National University of Singapore. After that, I worked in VC and strategy consulting in San Francisco and Singapore. From 2024 to 2026, I advised UAE ministries on economic strategy at Whiteshield, a public policy and AI economics advisory firm originating from the Harvard and OECD communities.
